Single Malt Irish whiskey is whiskey distilled from 100% malted barley by a single distillery in a traditional copper pot still.
Blended Irish whiskey is a mixture of the other three styles of whiskey, most frequently a base of Grain and a portion of Single Malt or Pot Still. At their worst, they can be lazily cut and overwhelmingly grainy. At their best however, they can be supremely balanced and masterfully created. After all, it's the style that gives the master blenders the most room to create.
Single Pot Still Irish whiskey is whiskey distilled from a mixture of malted and unmalted barley distilled in a traditional copper pot still.
Single Grain Irish Whiskey is Whiskey distilled in a column still from a variety of grains, with wheat and corn being the favourites.
